🌿Cacao & Temazcal

Vetted ceremonies, not tourist traps

Cacao ceremony: drinking ceremonial-grade cacao (not chocolate) in a guided circle — heart-opening, gentle, often combined with breathwork or intention-setting. Lasts 2–3 hrs.

Temazcal: a traditional Mexican sweat lodge — a low dome, hot volcanic stones, herbs, and song. 4 'doors' (rounds) of ~15 min each. Intense, purifying, deeply Mexican.

How to choose a real one

  • Lineage: ask who trained the facilitator. Maya, Mexica, or Tolteca lineage = real.
  • Small groups: 6–15 people. Anything 30+ is a tourist circus.
  • Intention check: a real facilitator opens with intention-setting and prep, not a "let's go!" energy.
  • ⚠️ Avoid: beach-club "ceremonies" with bottle service, anything offered by a 5th Ave tout.
  • 💧 Hydrate hard 24h before a temazcal. Don't eat heavy 3h before. Tell the facilitator about heart conditions, pregnancy, or claustrophobia.
